Jose ‘Joe’ Maldonado Mata Sr. March 24, 1949 – January 4, 2020 Jose ‘Joe’ Mata passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Joe was born and raised in New Braunfels, TX and moved to Dallas in 1972 where he resided until he was called to his eternal home on Saturday. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Linda Mata, his Father, Felipe Mata Jr., his mother Evangelina Maldonado Mata, and brothers, Benito ‘Ben’ Mata and Leonardo ‘Leonard’ Mata. He is survived by his oldest daughter, Rosa Mata, son Jose ‘Joey’ Mata Jr, youngest daughter Melisa Gardea and her husband Juan and his oldest granddaughter whom he and Linda raised, Gabriela Mata. He also has several other grandchildren, Daniel Mata, Vivian Mata, Jonathan Mata, Jessica Mata, Jason Mata, Jose ‘Little Joey’ Mata III, Jalen Gardea and 2 great grandchildren, Angel Espinoza Jr. and Julian Espinoza. Joe is the oldest child of 9 and is survived by his only sister Yolanda Garza and her husband Julian Garza, brother Gerardo ‘Harry’ Mata Sr. and his wife Cruz Mata, brother Gustavo ‘Gus’ Mata and his wife Diane Munoz, brother Ray Mata and his wife Sylvia Mata, brother Ricardo ‘Rick’ Mata and his wife Yelinda Serrato and youngest brother David Mata. Joe has many Nieces, Nephews and other family and friends that he loved dearly and had a special bond with. He was a well-respected man throughout his entire career, never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He can now rest in peace with his wife Linda, riding his Harley with her by his side on the Streets of Gold in Heaven.
