On May 13, 2021 Joreen Bozeman of Garland, Texas, went to be with the Lord at the age of 90.
Joreen was a beloved wife, loving mother, “Gran” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, mentor, teacher and friend to many.
Joreen Hayes Bozeman was born on March 5th, 1931 in Manning, Texas to David Franklin Hayes and Zula McGaughey Hayes. She was number 8 of 10 children. She married her husband, Karl Bozeman, August 18, 1951 and she would tell you God blessed them with two daughters, Karen and Brenda.
She spent the majority of her ninety one years in service to her Lord and Savior. The word that best describes her leadership in the local church is “servant”. She was a kindergarten teacher for seven years, taught preschoolers over thirty years, Director of Childhood Education in a local church, was a preschool curriculum writer at the Sunday School Board. led training conferences in 38 states, taught leadership conferences at Glorieta and Ridgecrest many summers, taught senior adults in her later years and played hymns on the piano for residents in her assisted living the last two years.
Joreen served on the Women’s Auxilary Board at Dallas Baptist University about 15 years. With love she served our family, served others in our home, and served others in ministry. Her service was recognized with the Ruth Award at DBU in 2008.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Karl Bozeman; two daughters, Karen Gray and husband Gary of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Brenda Hass and husband Artie of Garland, Texas; grandchildren Steven and wife Amanda Gray of White Hall, Arkansas, Alisa and husband Jaymz Yates of Murphy, Texas, Ryan and wife Brooke Gray of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Aaron and wife Kandace Hass of Richardson, Texas and Alanna and husband David Thompson of Rowlett, Texas, Kevin and wife Samella Gray of North Little Rock, Arkansas. She also has twelve great grandchildren: Lucas Gray, Emma Gray, Nora Gray, Noah Yates, Adalyn Yates, Asher Hass, Harper Hass, Makkedah Jo Thompson, Jennifer Thompson, Jayden Thompson, Annie Thompson, Jackson Thompson and sister, Mary Still of Lufkin, Texas.
