Johnny Del Thompson

Johnny Del Thompson was born in Vinita, Oklahoma on February 27, 1950 to Johnny Clark Thompson and Margaret (Margie) Belle Butner Thompson. He passed away on August 31, 2024.

Johnny was a graduate of Vinita High School, class of 1968. He served in the National Guard and United States Army Reserves. His last reservist detail was with the 75th MAC Unit in Oklahoma City when he retired in 1994 at a rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He worked in the telecommunication industry for over 30 years.

Johnny is survived by one son, Jared Carter Thompson of Mesquite, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother Margie, and his father Johnny. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Jared Carter Thompson; ex-wife Gail Thompson; sister-in-law Edie Brunson; cousins Willa Barnes, Celia Gerfers, Mary Borum, Jim Butner and wife Kay, and Gina Manders; and a host of loving friends, former co-workers, and military comrades.

A memorial service for Johnny will be held Saturday, September 14 at 4PM at the Greater Apostolic Tabernacle, 3601 Peachtree Rd., Balch Springs, TX 75180.
