John Harvey Williams of Mesquite, born December 10, 1943, passed away October 30, 2018.John was ordained a deacon in 1985 at Mimosa Lane Baptist Church.While there he served on a building committee, pastor search committee and taught Sunday School. In his leisure time he enjoyed bass fishing, fly fishing on the Gunnison River in Colorado, hunting deer and game birds, four wheeling in the San Juan Mountains with family and friends, NASCAR, BBQ, making homemade pizza and serving smoked meats to his construction crews during the holidays.Most important to him was spending time with his three granddaughters.After high school graduation, he began a life-long career in construction, over 55 years of work, he moved many times.He lived in Kansas, Texas, Colorado, Arkansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. His projects included churches, residential living, water treatment facilities, pipe lines, judicial buildings, schools and commercial construction.John also served six years in the Colorado National Guard driving Howitzer tanks.John is preceded in death by parents, Leonard & Dorothy Willliams; granddaughter, Sophia Rose Williams.Survived by wife of 51 years, Coretta Williams; children, Kimberlee Kurtz (Michael) & Kyle Williams (Renee); grandchildren, Kara Kurtz, Emma Williams & Olivia Williams; brother, Allen Williams (Nancy); many great nieces and nephews and life-long friend, Roger Siroky; 5 nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be 2:00PM Saturday November 10, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Forney. In lieu of flowers make donations to the First Baptist Church of Forney Building Fund in John's name.
