John Tanksley passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 2, at the age of 51 in Richardson, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas to Tom Tanksley and Susie Tucker. He graduated from North Mesquite High School and went on to attend Full Sail University where he earned a degree in Recording Arts. He met and married his wonderful wife, Tanya, while living in California before moving back to Texas.
John was a loving husband, patient foster parent, attentive son, dependable sibling, and faithful friend. He was as funny as he was smart and kind. He was always there for the people he loved and was always willing to help. He loved burgers, the Cowboys and, most of all, his family. He never missed a family celebration and was looked up to, literally and figuratively, by his nieces and nephews.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Tanya; his foster daughter, Elizabeth; his mom and step-dad, Susie and Roland; his dad and step-mom, Tom and Signe; his younger brother, James and James' daughter Zoya; his sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Matthew and their children, Katie, Noah, Jack and Claire; and many, many other loved ones.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 10:00a.m. at Household Of Faith, 1550 Wynn Joyce, Garland, TX 75043. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
