John Roy Morris passed away on November 18, 2010 in Dallas, Texas after a short battle with cancer and pneumonia. He was born in 1930 in Marshall, Texas, and grew up in San Angelo, Texas. He graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in Business. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He had a lifelong love of travel, providing cherished memories of adventure and discovery for his children while they were growing up and then later in life with his wife, Nancy. He was a talented home builder who built his own home in Mabank, Texas, where he lived the last 32 years of his life. He was loving caregiver to his mother and two brothers in their time of need. He was generous, hard working and a devoted and loving family man. He was truly a person who was admired by all and is deeply missed by his family and friends. Everyone loved, and will miss, his heartfelt bear hugs . He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Emma J. Morris and David A. Morris, his sister Virginia Allen and brothers Ray J. Morris, Bill W. Morris and Marlin C. Morris, and his infant son Daniel Morris. He is survived by his wife Nancy S. Morris, his children David W. Morris, Susan A. Bracken (Morris), Stephen F. Morris, his former wife and mother of his children, Martha A. Morris and his stepdaughter Lori M. Conley. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren Matthew C. Bracken, Livia E. Morris, Julia M. Morris and Jonathan K. Morris, and his step grandchildren Cherami Steadman and Carrie Reed. He was blessed to have his step great grandchildren, August Steadman and Greta Steadman. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 3rd at 11:00 AM New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale, TX. He will be buried at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
