Mitchell,John Walter, Sr. 81 years young passed away Friday June 23 at AbbaCare in Garland, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Theda Rose, sister Sally Wharry , brother Joseph Jr
He is survived by wife Sue Ellen. son John Jr, Grand daughter Heather, great granddaughter Kinsley, Shirley and husband George, Phyliss and husband Henry and Michael Topar.
John was born January 1942 in DeRidder Louisiana. He attended elementary school in Longville where his father was principal and his mother a second grade teacher. He attended Northwestern State University in Natchtoches , Louisiana earning his teaching career
He taught in Sulfur and Gorham Louisiana before moving to Texas, Here returned to Northwestern earned his masters degree and hours toward a PHD.
He taught 31 of his 32 years beginning and ending at W.A. Blair in Pleasant Grove, a suburb of Dallas. He and Gene Turner the P.E teacher at Blair started a boys and girls after school program that resulted in three trophy cases filled to capacity. John was well liked by Staff and appreciated by the staff and parents at Blair and loved by students.
John's passions in life other than teaching were fishing, hunting, The Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks.
To all the doctors, nurses,and hospital staff that have cared for John all the years, his family, send our heartfelt thank you and appreciation and pray that God will continue to bless you and the work you do.
