John (Johnny) Cleburne Medford, 79, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, with his daughters by his side. Born in Austin, Texas, he was the son of John Cleburne Medford and Emily Charlotte Goldstein Medford. Johnny was a loving husband of 55 years, wonderful father, and the best Papa. He built a successful remodeling business with only an eighth-grade education. He taught many people his trade over his career and several have moved on to have successful businesses of their own. He loved hunting and the outdoors and was an amazing storyteller. He was generous with his time and money. He loved helping others, especially children. With his great grandchildren he gave himself the title, “The Fun Guy”, and he was most definitely that. He was a kid at heart and loved teaching children life lessons or anything else he could pass on. He was a role model to many of his children’s and grandchildren’s friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jean Medford; parents, John and Emily Medford; sisters, Gloria Clark, Nora Vaughn and Jewel Dean; and brother, H.R. Medford. Johnny is survived by daughters Darla Davis; Sharon and husband Joe Palmer; Grandchildren: John Patterson, Justin Palmer and wife Shayna, Chelsea Palmer, Ciera Cliff; Great Grandchildren: Blaire Mormon, Kylee Cockrill, and Llana Anyanya, along with many nieces and nephews and extended family as well as friends he considered family and loved dearly.
