John Earl Martin

July 27, 1940 — March 29, 2013

John Earl Martin was called home by our Lord and Savior on March 29, 2013. He was born in Warren County Kentucky on July 27, 1940. He graduated from Warren County High School in 1956 and then enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until 1962. During this time he married his sweetheart Betty Jo Pruitt on December 16, 1959. He traveled to Texas in October 1963 where he made his home for the rest of his life. Betty and his 2 children James Earl Martin and Theresa Lynn Steele joined him in December 1963. His family continued to grow once in Texas with the addition of two daughters, Lisa Gail Brannon and Sharon Renee Tucker. He was preceded in death by parents Katherine Bell Johnson and Roy Owen Martin, Daughter Debra Kay Martin, Brother Richard Keith Martin, Sister and Brother-in-law Betty and David Satterfield and two son-in laws Ronnie Lee Brannon and Jimmy Wayne Steele. John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jo Martin Mesquite, TX children: James Martin Mesquite, TX, Theresa Steele Mesquite, TX, Lisa Brannon Campbell, TX and husband Randy, Sharon Tucker Mesquite, TX and husband Steve, Grandchildren, Travis, Tiffany, and Timothy Brannon Campbell, TX, Jerad and Justin Steele Mesquite, TX Kari and Kaylee Tucker Mesquite, TX. Brother Bobby Eugene Martin Bowling Green, KY and wife Joyce, Sister Cynthia Diane Simpkins Murfreesboro, TN and husband Perry, sister Kathy Elaine Martin Woodstock, GA, Sister-in law Hazel Garret Mesquite, TX and husband Sye, Brother-in-law Terry Miller Mesquite, TX and wife Laura, Brother-in-law Ronald Miller Waco, TX and Sister-in-law Connie Cancino Victoria, TX and husband Raymond, plus numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 2:00PM Tuesday April 2, 2013 at New Hope Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00PM- 7:00PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Interment will be at New Hope Memorial Gardens 500 East Highway 80, Sunnyvale, TX 75182.
