John Steven Holley

February 15, 1954 — September 26, 2011

HOLLEY, John Steven of Dallas, born February 15, 1954 in Oklahoma City, is now running in Heaven September 26, 2011. Preceded in death by wife of 17 years, Lynne Taylor Holley. Survived by parents, John & Jeri Holley; sisters, Marilyn Lenox and Janet Tedder; brother, David Holley; Sister in-law Debi Holley, brothers in-law Bill Lenox and Paul Tedder. He had many nephews; Greg Norman, Eric Holley, Matthew Lenox, Joshua Holley, and niece, Jennifer Norman. Steve was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at age 7. He inspired us all with his positive attitude; living a typical childhood riding his bike, fighting with his brother and going on many family camping vacations. He attended summer camps hosted by the Muscular Dystrophy Association. At these camps, he made friends and had experiences that he otherwise would not have had. As a young man he learned to drive a car with hand controls. As fearful parents looked on Steve drove off beginning his independent adult life. After graduating from North Mesquite High School, Steve attended Eastfield College where he studied electronics and prepared for a career in Digital Electronics. He worked at Boeing for 10 years, assembling electronics and driving himself to work each day. He fell in love and married Lynne in 1980. They moved into an apartment that accommodated two wheel chairs! In 1997 Lynne died from neuromuscular disease complications. Steve continued to live independently in his own home with great support from his family and wonderful caregivers that adored him. Steves sense of humor got him through many difficult situations, and as always, he never complained. We will miss our time with him, but will always remember his wonderful outlook on life. Steve was a gift to our family and was the glue which helped keep us so close all these years. Service will be 11:00AM Wednesday September 28, 2011 at East Dallas Christian Church, 629 N. Peak St., Dallas, TX. 75246. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at New Hope Funeral Home from 6:00P " 9:00PM. 500 East Highway 80 Sunnyvale, Tx 75182.
