Joe Stanley Clewis entered eternity with his Savior on October 26, 2016 at the age of 64. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years, Becky Clewis; daughters Victoria McEwen and husband Mike; Stacy Weihrich and husband Micah, Jen Mauldin and fianc James Rempel, son Jimmy Mauldin and wife Leslie; brother Robert Clewis and wife Sandra, and grandchildren Michael, Hannah, Gabriel Mauldin and Claire Weihrich.He is preceded in death by his father C. Ray Clewis and wife Rose Clewis, and mother Polly Sinclair. Joe was born on January 23, 1952 to Ray and Polly Clewis.He spent his childhood years on Crest Ridge Drive in Dallas across the street from the Faughn family.Joe attended Dallas schools, graduating from Bryan Adams High School in 1970.Joe began training in automotive mechanics at Gaston Jr. High.Joe and Robert Nichols won the local Plymouth Trouble Shooting Contest in 1967 and advanced to Nationals in Detroit, MI.Joe continued his education at University of Texas at Austin and Eastfield Jr. College in Mesquite.He received additional training with General Motors Training Center and was a mechanic for Chevrolet for many years achieving ASE Master Technician. In 2008, after working in various positions over 8 years as a courier, Joe became licensed as a Process Server and contracted to Special Delivery until his death. In 1974, Joe’s beautiful daughter was born and was adopted by the Payne family who raised her and loved her.Victoria Payne McEwen located Joe in 2000 and it was uncanny to discover they have the similar sense of wit and humor that made Joe so lovable by all who knew him.Joe could always find the subtle way to bring humor into every situation. Joe was married to Lynn Balderson from 1995 to 2004 assuming the role of father to Lynn’s daughter, Stacy.Joe continued contact with Stacy and loved her as a daughter. In 2005, Joe contacted “The Girl across the Street”, Becky Faughn Mauldin, and on March 24, 2006 they united in marriage.Joe always told Becky that he was so lucky that she had married him, however, Becky feels like she was the lucky one.They chose to become charter members of Pathways Fellowship in October, 2008.Joe graciously opened their home for fellowships, baptisms and Bible study.For over 10 years, Joe provided a home, love and companionship.He loved Jen and Jimmy as his own and was the proud Papa Joe to Jimmy and Leslie’s three children, Michael, Hannah and Gabe. Joe remained friends with many from various stages of his life including family, high school, college years, neighbors, co-workers and in recent years social media allowed him many virtual friendships.Joe loved to help people and was known for his random acts of kindness.In lieu of flowers, the family encourages that you honor Joe’s memory by showing kindness for those that God places in your path. Joe will be missed, and as many have assured us, the world is not as happy without Joe Clewis.
