Joan Coates

Joan Costigan Coates was born April 18, 1929 in Bangor, ME. We are grieved to share she went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2015 at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Visitation will be held on Friday 8/28 from 6-7:30 PM followed by funeral service on Saturday 8/29 at 2pm at Metroplex Chapel, 601 E. Airport Freeway/Hwy 183, Euless, TX 76039. Interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery in Sunnyvale, TX. Joan was the beloved wife of her husband Walter for 58 years. She was talented in hand-craft and an adored friend, sister, mother, and grandmother. Her loss will be felt by many whom she impacted with kindness, a listening ear, and sweet smile. Grandchildren (by blood, by marriage, or by adoption) meant the world to her and there was nothing that made her happier than being surrounded by children and books! She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Coates and eldest son David Coates and sibling David Costigan. Survivors include: her siblings"Bud" Allen Costigan and wife Fran, Ellen Perkins, and Judith Shirk and many nieces and nephews.Children: daughterBeverly Jones and husband Ted. Son Robert Coates and his wife Kathy. Grandchildren: David R. Coates and his wife Amanda, and their children Courtney and Emery. Kristin Greenlee and husband Jason and their children Tristian, Micah and Hayden. Sabrina Coates and her children Hunter, Riley and Kaison. Becky Coates. Deanna Canelos and her husband Carlos and their children Lauren and Carlos. Janell Oberly and her husband Chad and their children Rachel, Zach, and Morgan. Chris Sage and his children Hayley and Nick, Shannan Sage and her children Ashton, Karis, and Dane, and Brandon Sage and his children.
