Jimmy Steve Davis passed away peacefully for an eternal appointment with Jesus on August 10th, 2017 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 78.He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara of Mesquite, Texas, son Randy and wife Tracy of Dallas, Texas,son Brad and wife Brandy and daughter Havana of Dallas, Texas and son Kevin and wife Jeanette of Garland, Texas.Jimmy was preceded in death by father Mansel Earl Davis, mother Marie Lassiter and half-brother Earl Davis. Jimmy was born in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1938.He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1955.After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1959, he met Barbara Ann Bennett.On January 24th, 1960, Jimmy became Barbara's FOREVER and she became his ALWAYS.Jimmy worked at the photographic services firm Meisel Photochrome for 20 years.When he left Meisel, he worked in the residential and commercial pest control industry for 19 years.Jimmy retired in June of 2006 to begin his days of drinking his coffee, reading his paper and whatever came next. Jimmy loved sports.He loved competition.He loved the Texas Longhorns.He loved the Dallas Cowboys.Most of all, he loved his family --- His beautiful wife Barbara and his three boys -- Randy, Brad and Kevin.Jimmy NEVER missed a sporting event for ANY reason for ANY of his boys. Jimmy's family would like to extend the highest "Thank You" possible to two specific groups: The first is Medical City Hospital Dallas in general and the staff at Texas Oncology specifically.Dr. Bhushan, Dr. Mathews and every health care professional in their office provided compassionate, patient, consistent and skilled care for Jimmy. The second group Jimmy's family wishes to thank is the loving congregation at Mimosa Lane Baptist Church.The love and support Jimmy and Barbara have received from their Mimosa family is immeasurable. Jimmy's family can not express strongly enough the gratitude they feel toward these two groups and by extension, all of the loving and concerned friends who have shared in any and all parts of Jimmy's life. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 18th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale.The service to honor Jimmy's life will be Saturday August 19th at 10:00 am at Mimosa Lane Baptist Church in Mesquite. Donations may be made to The King's Closet 18492 FM 2755 Royse City, Texas 75189, in honor of Jimmy Davis.
