Jimmy Don Martin 66, of Mesquite, passes away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 and was reunited with his daughter Robin and loving parents. Jim was born on October 10, 1944 to J.W. and Janice Martin. Jim grew up in Haltom City and graduated from Haltom High in 1963. Shortly after high school he volunteered to join the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. After being discharged from the service he took the bus to meet his parents while they were trucking through Oklahoma. Once back home in Texas, he like his father, spent most of his career working in the trucking industry. Jim devoted over 25 years to Stevens Transportation and met many special people who he considered his second family. Jim enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, collecting guns, walking the aisles of the gun show, playing golf, taking his wife gambling and smoking a good cigar. But his biggest joy was spoiling his family each year on Christmas. He was preceded in death by his daughter Robin Lyn, parents J.W. and Janice Martin. He is survived by his wife Joan; son Donny and his wife Emily and children Macee and Maloree; Step-sons Kelwin Harris, his fiance Melissa, and children Kalyn and Kody; Marty Harris, his wife Elisa, and children Marisa and Josef; Very special Niece Jackie and many other family members and friends.
