Jesus Bustamante of Mesquite, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 10th, 2004. He was born at 12:00 pm on Sunday, October 19th, 1924 in Terlingua, Texas to Manuel Bustamante who was 31 years of age and Paulina Mireles who was 25 years of age.Jesus was the fourth child of eight born to Manuel and Paulina.There were five sisters and three brothers.Jesus was the oldest of the boys. He was preceded in death by hisfather in 1935, his mother in 1994, and his brother Daniel Bustamante in 1995. He entered the U.S. Army in May 1943 at Ft. Bliss Texas.He was a vehicle mechanic and served in the 994th Ord Heavy Auto Maint Company.He qualified for Marksman Rifle in August 1943.He received World War II Victor Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and EAME (European, African, Middle Eastern) Theater Ribbon.He was Honorably Discharged in April 1946 at Camp Chaffee Arkansas. On December 17th 1966 he married Florence Illena Head in Dallas, Texas.They settled in and purchased their house in June 1969 in Mesquite, Texas.They loved fishing and their pets.Florence passed away on January 30th, 1982. He is survived by his son Jesus Bustamante Jr. of Bakersfield, California; three grandchildren; sisters, Cruz Payne of Alpine, Texas, Maria Espinosa of Odessa, Texas, Eulalia (Lala) Muniz of Alpine, Texas, Ester Sanchez of Lubbock, Texas, Ramona Fierro of Odessa, Texas; brother Jose Bustamante of Odessa, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, March 12th, 2004 at New Hope Funeral Home.Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
