NUTT, Jessie Doyd of Mesquite, born February 25, 1931, passed away April 27, 2011. He succumbed to cancer at the age of 80 at home surrounded by his family and his faithful pet, Darma. He was born in Eureka, Texas to Elsie and Mable Nutt and had one brother, Weldon Gus Colburn. Jessie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1952, served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. During his tour of duty, he was awarded the National Defense Award, Korean Service Award and the United Nations Award. Jessie was a Life Member of the Marine Corps League, Detachment 1338. Jessie was retired from Continental Electronics after thirty years. Throughout his retirement, he enjoyed doing auctions, flea markets and traveling. Jessie was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother. He is survived by his wife, Vernetta Nutt; his children, Kim Stevenson, Elisa Wise, Kelly Jayroe, Weldon Nutt, Clarence Cagle and Shari Norris; his sons-in-law, James Stevenson, Ed Wise, Victor Jayroe and Woodley Norris; and daughter-in-law, Shea Nutt. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. A Service will be 10:00AM Monday May 2, 2011 at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale. Following the service he will be interred at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, to be laid to rest among the fellow American soldiers for whom Jessie had the highest respect and admiration. The service will be officiated by Dal Woodruff and the pallbearers will be members of the Marine Corps League. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00PM " 4:00PM. Jessie loved life, living and most of all, his family. We were so very blessed to have had him in our lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marine Corps League of Terrell, P. O.
