Jerry Marcus Evans, 55 years, 11 months and 1 day when he died on October 15, 2006.He was born on November 14, 1950 in Kilgore, Texas.He is preceded in death by his father Julian Dockery "J.D." Evans. He is survived by his wife Brenda, of Mesquite, Texas his mother Lillian Marie Evans of Port Neches, Texas, and his brother Roger Alan Evans and his wife Kathy of Lumberton, Texas. Jerry graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1969.He earned a bachelor?s degree in accounting from Lamar University in 1973 and continued his education earning a second bachelor's degree in Real Estate from the University of Texas.Jerry had a life long interest in politics and was a member of the Young Republicans while in college.He worked on several campaigns including his father?s campaign for state representative.Jerry was a fan of the University of Texas and was proud to flash the "Hook'emHorns" sign anytime he could. He married Brenda Louise Smith on April 22, 1995 in Houston, Texas.During the 11 years and 6 months they had together as a married couple, they had the opportunity to travel and explore many places.Jerry accepted Christ as a young boy and professed his faith until the end of his life.Jerry was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite, Texas when he was a member of the choir, Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Fellowship committee.He had previously served on the Missions Committee.Jerry worked as a Real Estate Appraiser in the Dallas area.Jerry was extremely honest and meticulous in his business dealings stating that in the end all he had was his name and reputation.Jerry will always be remembered for his patriotism, kindness, sharp wit, his love of good food and fine wine and the ability to take whatever life dealt him without complaint. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite, 1028 S. Beltline, Mesquite, Texas.Followed by a graveside service at the Gateway Garden I at New Hope Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens (www.Newhopefh.com) 500 E. Hwy 80, Sunnyvale, Texas. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested memorial donations to First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite or other charities of your choice.
