Jerry F. Davis

October 1, 1940 — July 4, 2020

Jerry F. Davis declared his independence from a 2 1/2 year fight with cancer the morning of July 4th, 2020 and passed away, peacefully, aged 79 years.

Jerry was born in Collin county (TX) on Oct 1, 1940. He was the 9th of 10 kids born into his family. He graduated from Forney (TX) High School in 1959.

Preceding him in death were siblings, Willie Josephine Parker, William (Luke) Davis, Joe Lee Davis, Winnie Pearl Truitt, Freddie Garvin Davis, Oleta Inez Horton, Johnny Francie Davis and Ruth Ann Bialas.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Geraldine Dawson & her husband Michael of Yantis (TX) and their four children and seven great grandchildren, as well as his daughter Annette Pritchett and her son of Forney (TX), as well as his last remaining sibling, sister Lillie Mae Windhauser of Crandall (TX). He also leaves behind his beloved Chihuahua, “Taco”.

He is remembered for his love of racing, from competing at the local dirt tracks to following the NASCAR series. He was a driver in the Street Stock division at Crandall’s Thunderbird speedway and at Devil’s Bowl speedway in Mesquite, between 1969 and 1975. He won two Championships in Crandall and four in Mesquite. His last appearance was in the 2006 “Old Timers” race at the dirt track in Mesquite. He continued to race vicariously through attending the weekly Devils Bowl races and watching NASCAR over the last 30 years always looking forward to the next race.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday July 8th, 2020 at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas.
