Obituary for Jerry Dwain McElroy Jerry Dwain McElroy, age 76, died on February 20, 2019, surrounded by family and loved ones in Dallas, Texas.Jerry was born on May 15, 1942, in Carlsbad, New Mexico to parents Ollian Lester McElroy and Edith Corene McElroy. Jerry is survived by his son Jerry Lester McElroy and wife Tabitha McElroy, his daughter Melissa McElroy, his brother Ronnie Lynn McElroy and his grandchildren Victoria Wilson and her husband Josh, and Ian McElroy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ollian Lester McElroy and Edith Corene McElroy. Jerry was a great man of God and has served in ministry for most of his life.He loved to sing and started in high school.Jerry was one of the original members of The Harmony Brothers Quartet, he sang with Merle and the Gospel Four, and other gospel groups throughout the years.Jerry and his wife Laura started the gospel singing group the Jubil-Heirs in 1988 and they traveled all over the United States singing and ministering to people.Jerry also taught in Children’s Church, at Westridge Baptist Church for several years and drove one of the church buses to pick up the children.Jerry dedicated most of his life and effort to ministering to others through gospel music. Jerry was a very friendly, outgoing and generous man who lived a full and happy life.He was a great example to his children, family, and others.He had many friends that he considered to be family and was always willing to go the extra mile to help others. He has touched thousands of lives through song and ministry and will be missed by many. The visitation and funeral services for Jerry will be held at the Trinity Life Baptist Church, Garland, Texas on Friday, February 22, 2019.The church is located at 2030 Rowlett Road, Garland, Texas.Visitation will be 6-8 PM on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas.
