On January 30, 2020 Jerry Edgar Cooksey, loving son, brother and father of three children, passed away.Jerry was 69 years old. Jerry was born on January 27, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to Newton Preston Cooksey and Elizabeth Dean Cooksey.He was an electrician by trade and worked in multiple cities and states throughout his life.On November 22, 1978, he married Linda McClure Cooksey.Jerry was the father of three children, daughters Jennifer and Melissa and son Jeremy. Jerry loved to ride motorcycles and travel.He also loved to build and work on cars.He enjoyed spending time with his family and there wasn’t much in wouldn’t do for them.He loved music, classic rock and roll was his favorite.He was a kind, intelligent and witty man.He knew history, geography and nature.He could light up a room with his blue eyes and infectious smile.Jerry had a compassionate spirit for others and loved God. He had a willingness to serve and provide for others like no other.Jerry had a servant’s heart and enjoyed working with street ministries and helping the homeless.Jerry participated and helped in motorcycle ministries.He was an ordained minister and knew the bible inside and out.He did not follow religions but had a deep and meaningful relationship with our Heavenly Father.Words can not even begin to explain the great man Jerry was.He was a rock in a storm to many and a mountain to climb if you disagreed with him, but he was always so quick to forgive and would overlook wrong doings of others and find the best in them.He was just always there. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Preston, his wife Linda and his youngest daughter Melissa.He is survived by two children, Jennifer and Jeremy, sisters Jean and Debbie, brothers Junior and James, eight grandchildren, Justin, Joanne, Tiffany, Shelby, Sierra, Logan, RJ, and Cody.Jerry had two great grandchildren, Ryker and Zander, several loving cousins, nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E.
