Jerrel Dean Kerr of Mesquite, TX was born June 27, 1930 and passed away May 15, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dorene Chastain Kerr of 26 years who passed away in September 1977; his father, Henry Ely Kerr; his mother, Margaret Louise Burns Kerr; and his sister, Virginia Kerr White. He is survived by his son, Terry Clint Kerr and wife Terri Ann of Forney, TX; his daughter, Jerri Lynn Kerr of Plano, TX; his son, Larry Dean Kerr and life partner Vicki Carter of Mesquite, TX; his grand children, Vickie Dorene Kerr Seay of Forney, TX married to Curtis Seay II, Debbie Marie Kerr Cheek of Terrel, TX married to Roger Cheek Jr.; his great-grand children, Destini Marie Cheek, age 14; Jeffery Dale Cheek, age 10; Curtis DeWayne Seay III, age 6; his brother, Orvis Kerr of Yantis, Texas; and his sister, Helen Kerr Rodden of Balch Springs, Texas. Jerrel Kerr was born into a family with a long Texas history, with the first Kerr arriving in the state around 1817, before the Texas Revolution. He was also related to Emory Rains whom Rains County and its county seat Emory were named after. He served 22 year 6 months in the US Army before retiring as a Master Sargent in the spring of 1972. He was stationed in Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Hawaii, Germany, and Guam.
