Emma "Jean” McKinnon Waldrep was born in Tarrant County, Texas, to Joe and Leo McKinnon, on June 24th, 1943. She was the youngest of 3 daughters and was preceded in death by her parents, her 2 sisters and their husbands, Marjorie Lou and D.A. Nutt, and Ima Jo and Kenneth Britt.She leaves behind her loving husband, Charlie Waldrep of Mesquite; four nieces who loved and admired her, Martha Matthews of Garland, Mona Brady and husband David of Saginaw, Michele Cortez and husband Roy of Mansfield, Jan Bearden and husband Johnny of Quinlan; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.Along with her biological family, she leaves behind those whom she chose as family “by heart”:Lifelong best friend Shirley Cole and husband Bobby of Mesquite; and their daughters.Jean was an avid dog lover which meant there were a lot of animals that were blessed to end up in her home, and regretfully she had to leave behind Fabio. The love of her life was Charlie.Charlie and Jean were married on December 21st, 1968.They spent over 47 wonderful years at each other’s side. Their lives were full of laughter, love for their pets, and most importantly love for one another. Jean was a bright, articulate individual with a passion for helping others.She placed a high value on education. After graduating from WW Samuel High School in Dallas, Texas, she pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Amberton University which later led to a successful career in the Oil and Gas Industry. Afterwards, her passion of help others inspired Jean to continue her education. Jean earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Christian Counseling at Cornerstone Christian College, as well as holding several certifications from the National Christian Counselors Association which launched her second career in Grief Counseling at First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale. Jean was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 8:30pm.Though her life was not quite long enough, it was a life well lived with love, integrity, and strength of character. While it is difficult to imagine over lives without Jean, we know that we will forever be able to cling to the wonderful memories that we have and that she will be watching over us until we reunite again. A Memorial service will be held for Jean on Saturday October 7, 2016 at 2:00PM at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas.Family will begin to gather at the funeral home at 1:00 PM.
