Janice Jones Dunn, 70, of Mesquite, Texas passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022, after a nine-year battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Janice D. Jones was born on January 23, 1952, to parents Ray D. and Virgie P. Jones in Sherman, Texas.
Janice graduated from Samuel High School in 1970 and after graduating in 1973 with an Associate’s degree in Arts from Eastfield Junior College she started her first real job at Western Electric as a soldering technician kick-starting a 29 year career in telecommunications manufacturing. She went back to college in 1989 at Dallas Baptist University graduating with honors, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1993. She continued her studies and attained the designation of Certified Purchasing Manager in 1994.
In 1971, Janice met Bruce K. Dunn at junior college, married in 1972 and went on to have one daughter, Jennifer R. Dunn in 1977. Bruce and Janice were married for over 50 years at the time of her death.
In 2001 Janice retired and spent her time cooking for friends and family, baking and decorating cakes, arranging and selling silk flowers for her company Parkhaven Designs, and creating leaded-stained glass projects.
Janice was predeceased by her mother, Virgie P. Jones, her father, Ray D. Jones, her father-in-law Robert J. Dunn and her brother-in-law Gerald D. Dunn. She is survived by her husband Bruce K. Dunn, daughter Jennifer R Dunn, siblings Donna K. Kennedy, Charlotte L. McLain, Dedra R. Johnson and Ray D. Jones Jr, mother-in-law Barbara C. Dunn, sister-in-law Jacquelin C. Graham and grand-daughter Jayde Dunn.
Services will be held at the New Hope Funeral Home and Cemetery, 500 East Highway 80, Sunnyvale, Texas 75182. Visitation will be on Monday, 9/26/2022 6-8 PM and the service will be on Tuesday, 9/27/2022 at 1:00 PM with internment to follow.
