STEMBRIDGE, James Doyce, age 67, of Mesquite, born April 7, 1942, in Dallas, TX. passed away May 16, 2009. He came from a large family of 6 children. He was a hard workingman who started working at the age of 12 as a caddy on a golf course. He worked his way up through the years as a foreman & superintendent and retired at the age of 62 in March 2004. He never met a stranger, loved to play jokes on his hunting buddies. He loved to fish and hunt and was a first place City Champion of Dallas in bowling in 1983. He was a family man who loved to barbecue for everyone. He had many fish frys. His kids meant the world to him and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Preceded in death by brother, Weldon Stembridge; sister, Joan Langley; father, George Stembridge; mother, Thelma Stembridge; grandson, Jacob Harrison. Survived by wife, Sue Stembridge; daughter, Aliea Watson & husband, McClain; daughter, Toni Bailey; daughter, Sherry Harrison & husband, Harvey; son, Joe King & wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Owen Harrison & wife, Rebecca, Austin Harrison & wife, Britney, Justin Harrison & wife, Sara, Chastity Ross Turner & husband, John, Amber Watson, Alexis Watson, Amanda King, Tiffany King, Chance King, Kristen Wernecke; close friend like a son & daughter, Bob & Nita Green; great grandchildren, Anthony Wernechi, Jacob Wernechi; brother, Jerry Stembridge; sisters, Birdie Potts, Judy McWilliams. Service will be 12:00 Noon Tuesday May 19, 2009 at New Hope Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 10:00AM before service.
