James Elvin Spakes of Mesquite, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 2, 2018. He was born to Dow and Docia Spakes on December 5, 1928. He proudly served in The United States Army as a Military Police Officer, where he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. After serving in the military, he married the love of his life, Juanita Baggett on July 6, 1948. He was saved at the age of 22, and surrendered to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in 1954. He continued to preach the gospel and lead others to Christ for 66 years. He was proceeded in death by his parents, siblings, and wife of 65 years, Juanita. He is survived by his loving family, including daughter Beverly Hamilton and husband Arthur, daughter Cheryl Martin and husband Pat, Granddaughter Angela Thompson and husband Greg, Grandson Joshua Waymire and wife Meredith, Granddaughter Jamie Stogdill and husband Tommy, Grandson Travis Martin, Great Granddaughter Amber Thompson, Great Granddaughter Ashlyn Thompson, Great Grandson David Waymire, and Great Granddaughter Faith Stogdill.Numerous nieces and nephews.
