James Weldon Satterwhite

James Weldon Satterwhite of Forney, Texas, passed away on November 5, 2004.Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Forney on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at 2:00 PM, followed by military graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Forney, Texas. He was born in Gilmer, Texas on July 4, 1932. James served in the Air Force from 1951 - 1955. He was in the Quartermaster Corp's in 1951.He attended North Lake College and received an award for completion of diesel engine tuneup.He also received the College Superior Service Award with the United Bureau of Prisons, plus numerous awards from other training schools. Mr. Satterwhite was preceded in death by his mother,Mildred McPeek Satterwhite; father Solon Satterwhite; step-mother, Dola Boykin Satterwhite, and grandson, James Allen York. He is survived by his wife Lois Satterwhite of Forney; 3 sons, Carl York, Jack York and wife Joanne, and Larry York all of Diana, Texas; 3 sisters, Deretha Starnes of Mesquite, Vonda Sue Smith of Plano and Rita Joe Murphy of East Texas; sister-in-law, Wanda Koonce of Hamilton, and brother-in-law, Fred Smith of The Colony; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memory ofJames Weldon Satterwhite.
