James Weldon Sandel

James “Jimmy” W. Sandel, Jr., was born on November 7, 1940, and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 8, 2017.His is preceded in death by his wife, Sonoe Whitehead; parents, James W. Sandel, Sr. and Annie Laurie Dupree.He is survived by his children, Gloria Sandel-Avila and Sandra Fields; grandchildren, Trevor Fields, Taylor Fields, Loren Avila, Aubrey Avila and Chloe Avila; brother, Mike Sandel; sister, Sylvia Campbell.Jimmy was a native Texan and lived his early years in the Dallas area and lived his last 20 years in Euless, TX.He started his career around 16 years old in the delivery service industry working alongside his father for Metzger’s Milk, later branching out with his own route.Then he moved into the beer industry, working alongside his best friend and brother, Mike.He spent over 20 years working for several different beer companies, but spent most of his career with Schlitz Brewing Company.He spent about 20 years working in the tourist industry for Tours By Stan.In his retirement years, he shuttled college students around the TCU campus.He loved being around people and had a great sense of humor.He was a simple man and loved spending time with his wife, having a cold beer and driving around town in his old pick-up truck.In his last year of life, he lived with his eldest daughter and really enjoyed getting to know is grandchildren and spending time with his family.
