James Weldon Pippin Jr. was born on September 2, 1922 in Chilicothe, Texas to James Weldon Pippin Sr. and Julia Mae Pippin. He was born into a family of preachers. Just like his father and grandfather before him, James Weldon Pippin Jr. answered the call to spread the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ. James Weldon Pippin began his journey as a preacher in 1949. He pastored churches in California, Texas and Oklahoma; in addition to traveling all over the United States preaching the gospel. James always said, Ministers dont die, they just preach away! James married Ruby Mae Kennedy on April 16, 1944. James and Ruby Mae Pippin raised three beautiful daughters and one amazing son. James served in the Army Air Corp, during World War II, as a radio operator on a B-29. He was very proud to be a WWII vet. James Weldon Pippin, Jr. born on September 2, 1922 passed away on December 3, 2009. James is preceded in death by his parents: James Weldon and Julia Mae Pippin and sister: Opal Sosbee. He is survived by his wife: Ruby Pippin; children: Rosa Calton, Julia Hogan, Weldon Pippin and Ruby Petty; grandchildren: Bill and Michael Calton, Cheri Easterling, Betty Carpenter, Christopher Pippin, Alicia Pippin, Deric Petty and 16 great grandchildren; brothers: Wylie Pippin, Nathaniel Pippin, Benjamin Pippin and sister: Louise Howlett. Funeral service will be 10:30AM Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Greenville, 2703 Wesley St., Greenville, TX. 75401. Visitation will be held at the church at 10:00AM preceding the funeral service. Interment will be 1:30PM Tuesdayat DFW National Cemetery, Dallas TX.
