James Johnson

February 22, 1957 — March 29, 2012

James D. (J.D.) Johnson, age 55, passed away on March 29, 2012.He was born in Dallas, Texas on February 22, 1957 to El Dora and Harry Johnson.He graduated from Bryan Adams in 1975 and was employed with the U.S. Postal service for 32 years.James was very special to many people, and each one of them would have some sort of story to share!James passion for sports included softball and bowling and he excelled in both.The injuries he sustained from his job kept him from pursuing his beloved sports the way he wanted to. He never missed a Dallas Cowboys game, Rangers, or the Dallas Mavericks on T.V.He also loved music of all kinds, especially gospel.He was always singing around the house, in the car, and for a while he sang at church.This was something he absolutely loved.James had a unique sense of humor and had some sort of name he called each one of his friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Sherry Hyles Johnson, and one daughter, Kelley, who was definitely her Daddys girl.He was so proud that she was accepted at Baylor University, where she is in her second year.She is majoring in Accounting, and plans to stay and get her Masters degree.James is also survived by one brother, Harry Johnson, and three nephews, Joe Mosher, Chris Johnson, and B.J. Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Billy and Boyd Johnson, and just recently, his dog Koko.He took that little dogs death very hard. James had been battling both Lymphoma and then just recently was diagnosed with Leukemia.He also suffered with chronic back pain for the last 11 years, along with a list of other health problems. This time, his body just couldnt take any more.He was surrounded by his family and friends when God peacefully called him home. James will be remembered with a Celebration of his Life service on April 22, 2012 at New Hope Funeral Home.He will be forever in the hearts of all whose lives he touched.
