James I. Bishop of Syracuse, NY passed in peace on Friday, March 3, 2017 at his home in Dallas, TX at the age of 79. James served as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After graduating from Syracuse University in 1964, he was employed as a Real Estate Appraiser for the State of New York until his retirement 30 years later. James was an avid golfer, bowler, and fitness enthusiast. He had a passion for Syracuse University sports, politics, and solving complex puzzles. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, proud patriot, and U.S. Navy Veteran. His devotion to his family will forever be cherished in the lives of his loving wife of 54 years Sharon Bishop (Van Schaack), daughters Lisa (Mike) Pettitt and Melanie (Dave) Corsaro, son Derek (Merilyn) Bishop, brother Robert (Sandy) Bishop, grandchildren Anthony Corsaro, Lauren Pettitt, Christiana (Gerry) Banda, Rachel Pettitt, Brianna Bishop, and Billy Williams. He was preceded by his two brothers John Bishop and Charles (Joan) Bishop and his two sisters Phyllis Balintfy and Elaine Morhardt. Burial will be held on Friday, March 10 at 10:15 am at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211. Online condolences can be left at www.newhopefh.com.
