Jacquelyn Marie Clay Peeples, “Jackie” to her family and friends, passed away on Friday, February 3rd, at the age of 71, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Dallas, Texas, Jackie was the youngest daughter of Jack Hammond Clay and Ila Faye Ivy. She graduated from Mesquite High School in 1963 and married her high-school sweetheart, Gary Peeples that same December. Jackie and Gary raised two children, Kathy and Danny, and lived to see them both marry and have children of their own. Family was everything to her and she took great joy in expanding that concept of family by opening her home and her heart to those that crossed her path. As a result, her house was often a home away from home - whether you just wanted to hang out or you needed a place to stay long term - and it’s that warm welcome that many will remember most. After graduation, she got a job at Fidelity Union Life Insurance Company, where she would work for the next 40 plus years in various underwriting and management roles, until she retired. And yet despite her rewarding and sometimes demanding career, it was clear that family, friends and community came first. She never missed a game, a practice or a recital… she sang in her church choir, she taught Sunday School and she relished any opportunity to show love and support to those around her. Jackie loved playing board games into the wee hours of the morning, dancing to Elvis when she thought no one was watching and finding the “funny” in the curve balls that life so often throws our way. She is survived by her husband Gary, her son Danny and his wife Robin, her daughter Kathy and Kathy’s husband Rick, grandchildren Amanda, Brandon, Justin and Taylor, nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws, and a large circle of friends. Her mother, father and sister Barbara Joyce preceded Jackie in death and were no doubt waiting to greet her when she crossed over. The family is deeply grateful for the incredible outpouring of love, prayers and support. If you knew her, you couldn’t help but love her and we hope that you’ll share your stories and memories of Jackie in celebration of her life. Please know that she loved you all right back and as a life she touched, we are her legacy.
