Jack Miller, age 89, a long-time resident of Mesquite, TX, passed away April 21, 2020. He was born August 28, 1930 in Dallas, TX to Ira and Maude Mae Traylor Miller. Jack was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and a veteran of the US Navy. He has called Mesquite home since the early 1950s. He owned the original Texaco Gas Station in Mesquite and later opened Jack’s Exterminating Service, which is still providing services under the operation of his grandson, Cameron. Preceding Jack in death were, his parents; brothers, Glenn Miller and Everett Miller; and sisters,Lucille Bryant, and Kathleen Upchesaw. Jack is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Rutledge and husband Randy of Dallas, TX, Kim Page and husband Steve of Mesquite, TX and Tracy Miller of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Cameron Hudson and Clark Hudson, both of Scurry, TX, Cara Hudson of Dallas, TX, Miller Page and wife Janie of Heath, TX, Kelly Page and fiance Chancy Duncan of Dallas, TX and Parker Page of Mesquite, TX; great-grandchildren, Selah and Fisher Page, both of Heath, TX; sister, Virginia McLeod of Dallas, TX and brother, Bud Miller of Mesquite, TX. Additionally, the family wants to acknowledge Jack’s wonderful caretakers, Pam Musketnuss of Visiting Angels, Tina Martin of Tina’s Care and the staff and residents of The Waterford of Mesquite. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Mesquite Cemetery. A public viewing will be held 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday afternoon, outside of New Hope Funeral Home, under the Porte Cochere on the East side of the building. During this viewing, it is requested that all patrons remain in their cars and drive through the Porte Cochere. Staff will be present to help direct you. Anyone is invited to attend; however, it is requested that all Dallas County COVID-19 orders be observed, including no groups of more than 10 in one location of 6’ or more apart and to wear face masks and gloves.
