Jack Leon Gideon was born on November 17, 1931 and passed away on December 21, 2011 surrounded by his family. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a devoted husband to his bride, Alene, for 55 years. Jack greatly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his family. He loved being a Papaw and especially eating ice cream with his grandkids. He loved going to his place in the country in Antlers, OK and riding four wheelers. He loved all sports and especially watching his grandkids participating in their activities. He loved vacationing with his kids in Colorado and New Mexico. He had a tremendous work ethic, a generous heart, and was a great example and inspiration to everyone around him. He was preceded in death by parents: Oscar Vondo and Etta Mae Gideon; sister: Dorothy Grimes; and brother: Cliff Gideon. He is survived by spouse: Alene Gideon; children: son Mike Gideon and Glenda Gideon; son Jim Gideon and wife Lynne; son Mark Gideon and wife Lynn;daughter Cindy Geer and husband Joe; daughter Tammy McMennamy and husband Walter; grandchildren: Lyndsee Fryar, Taylor Gideon, Rebecca Gideon, Joshua Gideon, Emily Geer, Jacob Geer, Peyton Geer, Isabelle McMennamy, Natalie Cate McMennamy, Jackson McMennamy; Sisters: Eunice Lowe, Mary Sue Jarvis and husband Bill. Family will receive friends Monday, December 26, 2011 from 6PM-8PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 27th at 10:00AM - New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale, TX.
