Homer Preston Baker passed away August 9, 2008 at home in McKinney, Texas after a long illness with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born in Blum, Texas, April 29, 1932 to Homer J. Baker and Bertha Doty Baker (both deceased). Homer attended W. H. Adamson High School.He married Juanice Crume in 1952.They moved to California when Homer was inducted into the U.S. Army.They stayed there for 2 years.After discharge they moved back to Dallas.He was a long time employee of Western Union Telegraph Company.He retired in 1984.They moved to Lake Tawakoni in 1970 where they lived until they moved to McKinney, Texas shortly before his death. Homer is survived by his wife Juanice, their son, Robert (Bobby) Baker and daughter-in-law Jeannie Baker of McKinney; five grandchildren, Matt, Amber and Jared Baker of Wylie, Texas, Brian Sheffield, U.S. Navy and Rebecca Sheffield of Dallas; two sisters, Dorothy Chambers of Arlington and Betty Godwin of Coalgate, Oklahoma; four brothers, M. L. Baker of Buffalo, Texas, Gene D. Baker and David Baker of Lake Tawakoni in East Texas; oldest brother, Floyd Baker preceded him in death in 1996. Homer had numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many friends.He will be missed. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 10:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:09 PM on Monday, August 11, 2008.
