WHITNEY, Holland (Whit) S/Msgt. USAF Retired. Born March 28, 1928, passed away July 4, 2005. Well done, thou good and faithful servant. He was born in Minter, Texas to Charlie & Pearl Whitney.Whit devoted 21 years to serving his country in the USAF, on assignments throughout the world.He met Rose, his wife of more than 50 years, while stationed in England.Whit spent his second career with AT&T in Mesquite, but his true life's work was serving others.Whether it was a request from his family, neighbors, or even a stranger, Whit always had the desire and found a way to help meet a need.No one passed Whit on the street without receiving a smile and a kind word.Whit received his greatest pleasure from spending time with his family, but it doesn't compare to the joy he brought to them. Whit was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gayle. He is survived by family members who consider themselves greatly blessed to have had Whit in their lives, including: wife, Rose; children, Glynn Whitney, Dale & Debra Whitney and Dawn Whitney Tomlinson; grandchildren, Sasha, Waylon, Jason, Michelle, Michael and Stephanie; and great-grandchildren, Ana and Jacob. Services will be 10:00AM Thursday, July 7, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church, 1028 S. Beltline, Mesquite, TX.Interment will be in DFW National Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening July 6, 2005 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite.
