Helen Ruth Dyess, 90, loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother passed away September 9, 2018. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John.Survived by son Mark Dyess and wife, Susan, daughter Debbie Dethlefsen, Grandchildren Jennifer Horne and husband Allen, Justin Dyess and wife Lauren, great grandchildren Lexi and Jackson Cox, Jake and Jordan Dyess.Memorial service Friday, September 21st, 10:30 a.m. Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, Student Center.Interment Dallas National Cemetery 2:30 p.m.In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a memorial in Helen’s name be made to the Senior Adult Ministry of Sunnyvale, First Baptist Church.Helen was born Christmas Day, 1927. She attended Pleasant Grove High School.She met the love of her life, John Dyess, and they were married September 19, 1947. They were involved in many church activities, including singing in the choir and various youth ministries with their children.Helen worked for the DISD as a secretary for many years.She loved to square dance and enjoyed many years of friendships associated with the square dance community.Helen and John traveled to every state in various RVs. The joys of her life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to be called Mamaw and Grandma.Helen enjoyed many years at First Baptist Church Sunnyvale and the special friends in her Sunday School class.She was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys!Helen was loved by her family and many friends and will she be sorely missed. She was a servant of the Lord and we are confident she is resting in his loving arms.
