Harry M. Sewell

May 4, 1925 — December 21, 2010

Harry M. Sewell, Founder and Pastor Emeritus of Family Cathedral of Praise Church of Mesquite, Texas. Born May 4, 1925 in Nocona, Texas and departed this world December 21 of 2010. He was preceded in death by, his beautiful wife, Jimmie Laverne Sewell of 61 years, a baby son, Kevin Wayne Sewell, parents Lee & Mary Jo Sewell and many other family members, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ all of whom he was looking forward to seeing again on the other side of that beautiful shore. He is survived by daughter, Sheree Stacy, son and daughter-in-law, Harry Lee and Debbie Sewell, and daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and J.D. Mayo, plus seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three sisters, one brother, a host of other family and friends, all who Pappy loved and adored. The family appreciates the loving daily care of Vista Hospice Care, Jan, Felicia and Patricia. After returning from Coast Guard service in WWII still as a young man, he made a life-changing decision to then serve his savior Jesus, Christ thereby helping many others to make the same life-changing decision. His Christ inspired wisdom and guidance left him with the peace and comfort that his entire family serves in the ministry of the Lord. After serving in evangelism for 21 years, he then began the pastorate of FCOP and continued for almost forty-five years. He also pioneered missionary churches and schools in Cartagena Columbia, South America as well as churches in Africa, and Pleasant Grove. During all of those years he was so much more than just a pastor; he was a friend, mentor and spiritual father whether it be while he was preaching on Ephesians 6:10 or having a meal at the Circle Grill Restaurant. He always shared his concern for everyone to have the knowledge of the value of their own soul. He exemplified the epitome of a man who continually used Christ as his barometer for the man he strived to be. To his last breath he continued to declare his belief and love of God, his desire to bow at the feet of Jesus, and to live an eternal life in heaven.
