Gwendolyn Carol Hatchel Kidd, born July 26, 1938 in Franklin County at the old family farmhouse. She is preceded in death by her father Eldon Foy Hatchel, mother, Helen Naomi Hatchel, and her husband John Philip Kidd. Gwendolyn was survived by: son, Kennith Kidd and wife, Jennie; son, Craig Kidd and wife, Mary; daughter, Dawn Kidd-Wilson and husband Gerald; and daughter, Shannon Kidd. Also survived by: grandsons, Jeremy Kidd, Michael Kidd, Joshua Kidd, Reeves Wilson; granddaughters, Sage Wilson, Melanie Wilson and husband Neal, Jordan Kidd, Kaitlyn Kidd and great-grandson, Zane Wilson; brothers, Eldon Foy Hatchel, Jr. (Pat) and wife Shirley; James Michael Hatchel and wife Aurora; Stephen Karl Hatchel and wife, Ginger, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gwen and her family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1942.She started High School at N. R. Crozier Technical in 1954.While there, she was a member of the marching band, which performed at various school functions.In 1955, she joined her brother, Pat, in the Amateur Radio Club at Crozier Tech, where she met her future husband John Philip Kidd.Upon graduation in 1956, John went to the Navy boot camp in Great Lakes Michigan, then came home to marry Gwen at Christmas time.Gwen traveled with John to California to his Navy assignment until he shipped out to the South Pacific, at which time she returned to Dallas.She remained there with her parents until John returned where they set up house in East Dallas.While they lived in Dallas, they had Kennith, Craig and Dawn.In the fall of 1965, they moved to Mesquite.In November 1968, they had Shannon.They remained in Mesquite until after the older three kids graduated high school and married.John, Gwen and Shannon then moved to Mt. Pleasant.They lived there until John passed in 1983. Gwen and Shannon returned to Mesquite where Gwen remained until her passing.
