Gregory Benford Dodson aka Skillett Date of Birth 9-23-49 – birthplace Waxahachie, Texas Preceded in death by Parents John Dodson, Grace Dodson and Sister Judy Crim Greg is survived by his wife Debbie Dodson His children Dale and Jamie Dodson – John, Justin, Paige, Hunter , Timothy, Tyler Great Granddaughters.Preslee and Cali Jeff Birmingham LeeAnn and Billy Hill – River , Ryder, and Ridge Special Niece Deanna Dickerman What words can you use to describe Greg – first and foremost Dad… that was the role he cherished most. People ask what hobbies did he have? His family was his hobby – it was his passion and it was his privilege to take care of them There are many others that can be used: Grandaddy – He loved those babies..When you came in the house he took the babies.. ifthey startedcrying – they were yours..He never missed an event in any of their lives. Many times he would drive 12 hours to watch the boys wrestle. Sleep a few hours and head back home. Husband – He was stubborn and opinionated- but he took this role seriously. He was loyala good provider , our pillar of strength.Spoiled me rotten.. loved me unconditionally. But in those strengths he had the heart to be sentimental. He loved giving but was like a kid when he received presents. Christmas was an event..He would relish every item.. he lovedthe kids drawings, homemade items and chin choppers.. Career – Greg was the one they called when no one else could complete the task.If there was a deadline he met it. If that meant12 or 14 days, seven days a week , failure was not an option. He cherished his friendship with his coworkers. If you needed to be told the truth no matter how painful – he would tell you.But if you needed a shoulder, helping hand , or just to talk he was there. He would always try to guide his family in the right direction., and lead by example. All of the kids friends loved Greg..so many of them have stated their school memories all have Greg in them. All Track meets, football practices, foot ball games. He was soinvolved they choose him to beLeeann’sDrill team Dad… if the boys would tell him about their events. He would be there. Greg stepped up to a role that many men would have walked away from.He raised Dale from age 11 and Leeann from 16 mos by himself. He and I met and formed a family in January 1984 – Jeff was then put in the mix.Jeff was 9 years old at the time , Greg became his dad . It is difficult to blend a ready made family.. But ours was wonderful,. We share many happy memories. .We didn’t have step kids or stepmom or stepdad..It was our kids , Mom,and Dad .. and later Nana and Grandaddy. We were then blessed with a lot of little blessings… Greg loved being Grandaddy… and GG daddy. He continued the traditionof attending all of their functions, and spoiling them. Greg would grumble and give you a what for, but in the end he was always there.Never one to waiver from a challenge. We will miss him terribly, but he left a great legacy. Till we meet again – Honey, . Daddy, Dad andDaddy-o, Grandaddy, GG daddy., we love youMUCH.
