Gloria "Dody" Beeler

Gloria “Dody” Jeanette Smith Beeler, 74 of Forney Texas and Quitman Texas was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 9, 2020.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 July 25^th at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale Texas. Reverend Jerry Griffin and Mike Crow, cousin to Dody, will be officiating. Family will be receiving friends from 2:00 – 2:30 July 25^th.

 
Dody was born in Terrell, Texas on May 16, 1946 to John Milton Smith and Margaret Emma Smith of Forney, Texas. She lived her childhood in Forney, Texas attending Forney Schools and graduating FHS in May 1964.

Dody was married to Arthur Alvin Beeler on August 21,1964; they were married just shy of 56 years. 
They both enjoyed their retirement home located on Lake Quitman in Quitman, Texas.

Dody’s career with the Government spanned nearly 3 decades as she retired from the Social Security Administration as a Service Representative.  She enjoyed prepping and cooking Thanksgiving dinner, including her famous dressing and German chocolate cake. Her biscuits and gravy were the best. She loved entertaining family and friends for Memorial, July 4^th and Labor Day holidays at the lake house. Attending monthly family breakfasts with her family that she loved dearly. Listening to Elvis, dancing and antique shopping.

She is survived by her husband , Arthur Beeler of Quitman; son, Mark Beeler of Forney, Texas; daughter, Dana Beeler Brantley and husband Lawrence of DeQuincy, LA; sister, Shirley Spainhower of Denver, CO; sister, Beverly Hargrove of Forney, Texas; grandchildren, Sara Bailey and husband Brandon of Benton, LA; Payton Wood of Forney, Texas; Michael Brantley and wife Amanda of Austin, Texas; Katlyn Brantley of Albuquerque, NM and Nicholas Brantley of DeQuincy, LA; great-grandchildren, Stella Bailey and Paisley Brantley; nieces, nephews, cousins and best friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father James David McDaniel.
