Glenda Fay Smith Pruitt, a beloved teacher and cherished family member, passed away on December 19, 2024, at the age of 71 in Heath, Texas. Born on December 16, 1953, in Dallas, TX, Glenda dedicated half her career to banking, and the remainder of her career to nurturing young minds as an educator with the Mesquite Independent School District. She held a Master's Degree and touched the lives of countless students with her passion for teaching, and heavy involvement in school activities while her children attended school in the same district.
Glenda had a zest for life, evident in her hobbies and interests. She enjoyed creating beautiful ceramics and was looking forward to returning to this beloved pastime in her retirement. Glenda enjoyed traveling, was a fine-dining enthusiast, and a passionate supporter of local sports, often cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family, which was the cornerstone of her life.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Stephanie Pruitt and son-in-law, Walter Carpenter; son Stephen Pruitt; brother Glenn Smith and sister-in-law Darline Smith; grandchildren Harley Pruitt, Elijah LaManna, Nathan LaManna, and Holten Pruitt. Each family member carries forward Glenda's spirit, ensuring that her legacy of love and joy will remain alive in their hearts.
A celebration of Glenda's life will take place on December 23, 2024, at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Glenda will be laid to rest in the New Hope Memorial Gardens, with burial scheduled for 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to honor her memory, sharing stories and laughter as they remember a remarkable woman whose impact will never be forgotten.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents Gleen Smith and Leta Rodgers Smith, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
