Gina Smith

Gina Marie Smith, age 54, passed away on September 3, 2023, at her home in Forney, TX. She was born on February 25, 1969 in Sacramento, CA, to parents Marshall and Regina Strawser.

Gina graduated from San Juan High School in Citrus Heights, CA in 1987. She started her career in law enforcement as a K-9 handler with her canine partner Marco from 1995-2004. She later worked as an EMT in Ashland, KY from 2005-2011, and most recently worked as a Logistics Coordinator with the Georgetown Fire Department in Georgetown, TX.

Gina married Joseph Smith on October 7, 1995 on the Battery Memorial in Charleston, SC. The couple had 5 children, Meggan Delvecchio, Jhordan Delvecchio, Andrew Delvecchio, Bryce Smith, and Mindy Smith.

Gina is survived by her husband, Joseph Smith of Forney, TX; daughters, Meggan Delvecchio, and Mindy Smith; sons, Jhordan Delvecchio, Andrew Delvecchio, and Bryce Smith; granddaughters, Zoey Delvecchio, Fallon Resendiz, and Morgan Resendiz; grandsons, Zayne Delvecchio, and Jaxson Reyes.

Gina is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Regina Strawser; and sister Mindy Carpenter.

The services for Gina Smith will be held at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg, KY pending transportation to her final resting place.

Burial will be at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery NE, in Grayson, KY at a date to be determined.

Memorial donations can be made in Gina's name, to her favorite interest for rescuing animals, to the City of Georgtown, TX animal shelter.
