George Slater "Buddy" Murphy was born March 3rd, 1957 in Houston, Texas. When he was a year old, his family moved to California where his father started his business, Murphy Produce Company. He also served our country with honour and pride during the Vietnam War. His branch of service was the Navy. In his twenties George moved back to Texas and took up the trade of Land Surveying, which he did for thirty-five years. His favorite hobby was fishing. He was known for his homemade fish bait, or "dough-bait." Dough-bait was "guaranteed to catch the big ones!" If he wasn't working George prefered to be outside. He met and married his wife, Angela, and together they raised two children, Amy and Shawn. He worked hard and loved his family more than anything. He was handy, and would always find a project to fix and build around the house, or car. He could fix anything himself and taught his children and grandchildren how to be self sufficient in any way he could. He worked hard to be sure his family was always taken care of, with a roof over their heads and food on the table. He was the provider and protector of his family, and he wouldn't have had it any other way. He was the navigator. You could call or ask him for any direction about life, or "How do I get home from here?" He would always have an answer. And if you were curious about any tree, herb, flower, or grasses- he knew the name, and what health benefit it served. After the love of his family, his love of nature came next. He enjoyed sitting under the patio he built for his wife to listen to music, and just being outside with Boomer always at his heels. He was loved by many, and he will be dearly missed.
