George Edward Bingham, aged 84, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Born in Gorman, Texas, George was the only child of Bonnie and Evelyn Bingham. The Bingham’s thereafter moved to Hamlin, Texas, where George graduated from Hamlin High School. He joined the army after graduation, proudly serving his country in Korea as a sergeant. In 1950 George married his high school sweetheart, June Gillis Bingham; the couple then searched for a home to call their own—a perfect Texas town. They settled in Odessa where they lived happily for 50 years. There they served the Lord, loving and encouraging the people of Northside Baptist Church. George enjoyed two careers: first as a barber, later as a foreman at Southwestern Portland Cement Company. He was a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His heart and personality were as big as the state he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Evelyn Bingham, and by two grandsons, Joel and Ben Walker. George is survived by his loving wife, June; daughter, Denise Bingham Walker and husband Rick; granddaughter, Kara Walker Morris and husband Aaron; granddaughter Lindsay Walker Ward and husband Justin; and four great grandchildren, Walker, Sophie June, Ford Morris and Benjamin Ward. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, December 3 at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale with burial in Dallas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: For the Nations Refugee Outreach Ftnro.org
