Tyler, Gena Ruth Cummings passed away Saturday evening, November 12, 2011 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Gena is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Dewayne Tyler of McKinney, daughter Misty Hopson and husband Deen of Alaska, and childrenCody Hopson, Brianna Phillip, and Micheal Hernandez, daughter Katie Green and husband Tray of Lawton, Oklahoma, and children Kelsey and Jackson Green, daughter Christy Acebedo and husband Gary of McKinney and children Heidi and Mason Acebedo. Gary is currently deployed to Korea. Parents Odie and Patsy Cummings of Canton Texas and sisters Debbie Crady of Waxahachie, Reida Wallace of Rowlett, Martha Peebles of Alba and brother Casey Cummings of Canton. Along with a host of nieces and nephews. Gena grew up in Canton, Texas. She graduated from Henderson County College in May 1984 with a degree in nursing. Gena was a registered nurse and worked in various hospitals in the Dallas area for 25 years. Nursing was truly a joy to her and she enjoyed emergency care the most. Gena enjoyed reading and water sports. In the most recent years Gena enjoyed her grandchildren more than anything. Gamma will be missed! A viewing will be held Thursday evening, November 17th at New Hope Funeral Home from 6:00PM-8:00PM. Funeral Services will be Friday November 18th 11:00AM at New Hope. Burial will be at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to made to the American Cancer Society (1-800-227-2345) in honor of Gena in her memory.
