He was very much loved by his sons and grandchildren to whom he taught to do so many things. His knowledge and practical ways of doing things always helped others immensely. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation for 37-1/2 years and due to his job, he had to work on different kinds of airplanes. His most favorite ones were the U-2, the F-104 and the P-3s. He visited and lived in 18 countries and all 50 states. He was the kind of traveler who was respectful of other cultures and their people in their ways of doing things. He lived in Spain for 15 years where he was also known as El Tejano as he always would wear his Stetson hat, his cowboy boots and a Bolo tie. While he was stationed there, he was awarded the White Cross by the King Don Juan Carlos, the highest medal awarded to a civilian working with the Spanish Armed Forces. The Portuguese Air Force also awarded him another medal while performing his work at a squadron in Setubal, Portugal. His hobbies were first fishing which he loved to do on rivers, lakes and the ocean. This became his greatest relaxation. He loved hunting as well, which he did a lot while he lived in Turkey and Spain. He loved to do wood work and most recently built a great workbench, in fact he built one in every house he lived in. In Portugal, he enjoyed shooting darts, and most recently because of his disease (Chronic Pulmonary Obstructive Disease), he enjoyed playing solitaire on his computer, but every time he had a chance, he would sneak into the garage to do something else. His travels ended sometime ago but he left just a few days ago on his greatest journey. He left so many wonderful memories and teachings.
