Frank Varner, age 85, passed away on March 3, 2024, in Mesquite, Texas. He was born on October 16, 1938 in Honobia, Oklahoma to parents John and Linnie Varner.
Frank graduated from Nashoba High School in 1954 at the age of 15 and went on to earn an associates degree. He started his career as a Fireman in the Dallas Fire Department where he retired after 31 years. He also worked for Freeman Decorating Company.
He was drafted into the Army in 1961 and served near Kenai, Alaska until 1963.
Frank married Glenda Grooms Varner on July 14, 1964 in Dallas, Texas. He served the Lord faithfully throughout his life and was voracious in reading and studying the Bible.
After retiring from DFD, Frank began a nursing home ministry on Sunday mornings in which he served faithfully for the next 25 years.
Frank is survived by his 3 children, Harold and wife Gladis Varner of Dallas, Kimberly & husband Ken Dortch of Sunnyvale, and Nicole Varner of Mesquite; grandchildren, Martin Patino of Dallas, Angela and Danielle Varner of Dallas, Camden Dortch of Sunnyvale; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Elijah Varner of Dallas; brother-in-law, Kenneth Smith.
Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Varner; parents, John and Linnie Varner; and sister, Janet Smith.
The service for Frank Harold Varner will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at New Hope Funeral Home - Stateroom A.
Burial will be at New Hope Memorial Gardens, Sunnyvale, Texas.
