Frank Ramsey was born June 28, 1931 near Sevierville, Tennessee.He passed away July 2, 2016 in Carrolton, Texas.He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Nola Ramsey, sister Faye McCarter, brother Earl Ramsey all of Tennessee.He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Mary Katherine Walker Ramsey of Dallas, Texas. In 1951, Frank joined the Air Force and was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Ft. Worth, Texas.Frank enjoyed his military career and retired at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1971. Frank always had a passion for law enforcement, wanting to be a police officer at an early age.In 1971, he was hired as an officer by the Dallas Park Police, which later merged with the Dallas Police Department.During his 23 years of service, Frank worked numerous assignments from patrol officer to lake patrol officer at Lake Ray Hubbard.Frank retired from the Dallas Police Department in 1994.Following his retirement, Frank pursued his passion of travel and camping, traveling to most of the 50 states, including Alaska.Frank and Katherine loved Colorado, building a small summer home near Canon City. Frank is survived by his second wife, Imogene Milstead Ramsey of Port Lavaca, TX, and by his son, Jimmy Frank Ramsey and wife Joni of Royse City, daughter Janell Ramsey Goodwin and husband Mike of Murphy, grandson Justin Ramsey and wife Maria of Dallas, granddaughter Rachel Goodwin of Boston, MA, great granddaughter, Emma Ramsey and numerous nieces and nephews and three stepchildren. Frank will always be remembered by his family and friends for his big smile and sense of humor.He was a loving and caring dad and will always be our hero. The family wants to thank the staff of Sonoma House Assisted Living and Faith Hospice for their loving care. Family will receive friends at the visitation on July 6, 2016 from 6pm – 8pm at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Hwy 80, Sunnyvale, TX.Funeral service will be held on July 7th at 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
