Francis Loraine Minshew, age 93, of Forney, TX, went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2017.Loraine was born in Hooleyan, TX, on January 21, 1924, to John Muncie Phillips and Norma Beatrice Linville. She graduated from Quanah High School in 1941, and began working at Baker Hanna & Co.Loraine married Clyde Minshew on May 26, 1948, in Quanah, TX. Loraine and Clyde moved to Lubbock, TX, while Clyde pursued his engineering degree at Texas Tech University.The couple later moved to Dallas, where they raised their three children.They were active members of Prairie Creek Baptist Church in Dallas for 28 years, and often hosted dinners for revivals, visiting missionaries, friends, and family.Loraine was also involved in Special Olympics and Camp Soroptimist, supporting organizations who assisted children and adults with disabilities. Their dream of renovating an older home was realized in 1976 when Loraine and Clyde bought the Layden Home in Forney, TX.The couple moved into the home in 1977, where they continued for ten years to restore and remodel the house.Shortly after moving to Forney, they joined First Baptist Church of Forney, where they served faithfully.Loraine was a member of the Forney Historic Presevation League and the Forney Gardening Club, and she volunteered at Forney Elementary School, teaching children to read.After Clyde’s retirement, the couple became involved in the Senior Adult Ministry at First Baptist and traveled extensively with friend and family.Loraine loved to play games, especially dominoes.She organized many 42 games at the Layden Senior Center and Three Forks Assisted Living Center. Loraine is preceded in death by her parents, Norma and Muncie Phillips, husband, Clyde Minshew, sister, Kathleen Bunch, and daughter, Kathy Lynn Minshew.She is survived by her sons, David Minshew of Dallas, and Philip Minshew and wife, Rita of Forney; three grandchildren, Corinne Minshew of Dallas, John Minshew and wife, Chasity of Forney, and Lauren Matej and husband, Michael of Forney; and four great-grandchildren, Madisyn Minshew, Hayden Matej, Matthew Matej, and Emersyn Minshew.She is also survived by her sister, Marion Evelyn Jenkins, of Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
