Esther Ruth Abbott

April 19, 1932 — June 23, 2015

Esther was born in Turkey, Texas and moved to East Dallas with her family as a young girl.She went on to graduate from Woodrow Wilson High School and had a 40 year long career as an executive secretary in the oil and gas and civil engineering industries. She was a dedicated Christian and long-time member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Forney.Esther was devoted to her family and friends. She was married to her husband, Charles Abbott, for over 51 years.She was blessed with three children and nine grandchildren.Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones – cooking, playing games, and traveling the world.She will be fondly remembered for her warmth, generosity, and fun-loving spirit. Esther was proceeded in death by her parents Alfred and Annabelle Jensen. She is survived by her husband Charles Ray Abbott; children Greg Abbott, Sheryl Hopfer, Lori Burkham and husband Scott Burkham; and nine grandchildren Benjamin Hopfer, Michelle Hopfer, Zachary Hopfer, Rebekah Hopfer, Jacob Hopfer, Hannah Hopfer, Nicholas Burkham, Jeremy Burkham, and Harrison Burkham; brother Gerald Jensen and wife Ora Jensen; nephew Jerry Jensen; niece Gina Paschal.
